The Customer planned to deploy a modular Huawei data center that could work in an open field. It includes all the necessary systems: a container with racks for server equipment, monitoring and remote control systems, as well as power supply, air conditioning, and fire extinguishing systems directly inside the container.
For installation and commissioning, the Customer invited several contractors. In turn, ICL Services employees, who have expert knowledge of this equipment, provided supervised installation: they monitored the operations, supervised contractors, and managed processes.Key Challenges
- Organize and monitor the activities of contractors during the installation of Data Center (DC) systems, check the serviceability and operability of systems.
Implemented our solution
ICL Services, together with the contractor, ensured the acceptance of equipment for the data center.
The server installation scenario was as follows: contractors performed the installation, and ICL Services' engineers monitored the progress and guided the whole processes in order to get the job done better.
To implement this project, it was necessary to expand the scope of work. ICL Services offered several ways to avoid the involvement of additional resources of the Customer. In particular, ICL Services engineers, performed installation and commissioning activities on equal terms with contractors.
Also, in the process of implementing the project, ICL Services invited additional professionals to install equipment using cranes. After installing the Data Center, the engineers checked the integrity of the containers and made sure that all internal systems worked properly.
Results
- As a result, the Customer received a data center capable of operating in an open area outside the premises.
- Due to the fact that ICL Services' employees have expertise both in relation to the installation of complex equipment itself and in relation to the management of processes and projects, the Customer did not have to look for other contractors. This allowed the Customer to save money and complete the project on time.
