The EU headquarters decided to split the infrastructure and localize the Russian division of the company, replacing the software and services provided centrally by the head office.
The same level of fault tolerance, security, and solution quality had to be maintained, taking into account the interests of the business, global and local IT teams, and information security requirements – both local and corporate-wide.
The company's Russian division lacked the necessary resources and expertise to address these challenges, so the client turned to ICL Services for consulting and technical support.Key Challenges
- Creating a stable IT infrastructure to ensure business continuity for the company in Russia
- Build the infrastructure in full compliance with the concept, migrate data and users, and disconnect from the infrastructure services provided by the global office.
- Provide technical support.
Project Introduction
First, ICL Services experts analyzed the current infrastructure, reviewed documentation, and interviewed experts at both the local and headquarters levels.
They selected the most suitable solutions and technologies, described the infrastructure separation concept, and successfully secured it at the headquarters and executive level.
During the implementation phase, the experts provided the necessary licenses and subscriptions and built the new infrastructure. The work was completed in stages.
Project Progress
First, they commissioned the Active Directory directory service and associated services for the new domain, and migrated users and security groups.
Next, they migrated the virtualization platform (Hyper-V cluster) to the new domain, ensuring the infrastructure's independence from network connectivity with the headquarters.
The experts also migrated user mailboxes from Microsoft 365 to Yandex 360 and implemented mobile device management using Kaspersky Secure Mobile Management.
To manage the workstation and server infrastructure, ICL Services implemented its own Colibri-UEM system, replacing the Microsoft SCCM solution. This significantly reduced migration time and staff labor costs by automating the installation of operating systems and applications on user workstations.
At the same time, the ICL Services team ensured comprehensive security for the new infrastructure:
1. Implemented additional network security components, a vulnerability scanner, and multi-factor authentication.
2. Connected the infrastructure to its own cloud-based SOC (Security Operations Center), which includes 24/7 monitoring and response to information security events.
3. Installed and configured Zabbix monitoring.
Finally, the team implemented the ELMA365 Service Desk 2.0 ITSM system, replacing the ServiceNow solution. Specialists conducted a thorough analysis of the client's IT processes and business requirements, and the platform configuration was adapted to fully meet the client's requirements for a ticket and asset accounting system.
After the new infrastructure was ready and secured, ICL Services specialists successfully migrated data and users from the global infrastructure servers and services. Throughout the migration process, the client's employees were supported with regular communications, consultations, and technical support.
Following the project's completion, the experts will provide support for the information security infrastructure in Russia.
