One of the leading multidisciplinary universities in Russia. The university includes branches, 24 faculties, an academy, a college, a gymnasium and more. More than 45 thousand people study at the university, and more than 100 events are implemented to prepare undergraduate, specialist, master's, postgraduate and doctoral students.
Constant modernization of educational programs, introduction of new disciplines and compliance with requirements allow the university to always be on trend. Engineering centers, modern technical equipment and laboratories operate here. All this must be provided with appropriate equipment - high-quality, safe, multifunctional.
In order not to waste additional time and resources on purchasing equipment, and then turn to additional systems and office package programs, the university management turned to ICL Services with the idea of delivering the "Managed Office Workplace" software and hardware complexes.
Previously, the university had already had successful experience of interaction with ICL Services specialists in building the university's IT infrastructure.
Since the university looks like a curator university, it was a common decision to purchase hardware and software systems for the university branches as part of their employment to provide students and staff with standard equipment.
The customer pays special attention to the availability of a technical support system based on the "single window" principle, when all questions about the operation of the equipment can be addressed directly to the owner of the hardware and software system, rather than separately contacting suppliers of equipment, OS, etc. Key Challenges
- To supply hardware and software systems that can be used both to support the educational and methodological process and for research centers and laboratories.
- To assemble a hardware and software system that includes controlled personal computers with a domestic built-in system and office packages.
Implemented our solution
- During the negotiations with the customer, it was determined that the hardware part of the hardware and software system would be modern and reliable Russian equipment from ICL Techno — a desktop computer ICL BasicRay model B102 G3R complete with a monitor ICL ViewRay 2716IQH-UR. And the software part would be represented by one of the popular Russian operating systems RED OS and the office application package R7-Office.
The project was implemented in several stages:
— First of all, the specialists collected the customer's requirements and determined the "stuffing" of the hardware and software system (hardware and OS).
— Then they launched the assembly of hardware and software systems with subsequent testing to control the computers for equipment standards, configurations and installed software.
— After which they delivered the specified batch of hardware and software systems to DSTU and supervised universities within the specified period.
In September 2024, the ICL Services "Managed Office Workplace" software and hardware complex was included in the register of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation and became the first in the class of software and hardware complexes that represent an automated user workstation.
Today, software and hardware complexes are successfully integrated into the IT infrastructure of universities - they allow you to easily organize a ready-to-use employee workstation, equipped with everything necessary for daily work.
In addition, the software and hardware complex allows you to organize user workstations in special laboratories, research and engineering centers.
Results
- The implementation of the PAC allowed to avoid additional time costs for installing equipment and the OS package.
- Optimized processes related to equipment management and maintenance.
- As a result, the IT infrastructure of universities was successfully modernized. The total number of delivered software and hardware systems is 665.
