The project's customer is one of Russia's largest oil and gas corporations.
The client was looking for a solution for managing IT infrastructure and user devices, and one of the key requirements was managing a heterogeneous environment, including devices running different operating systems. The client also had a specific technical requirement: the system needed to be deployed and run on an Alt Linux-based infrastructure.
At the start of the project, Colibri-UEM officially supported other operating systems and did not have a ready-made distribution for Alt OS. Despite this, the client was interested in the solution's capabilities and decided to conduct pilot testing on it.
Key Challenges
- Test the Colibri-UEM system on the customer's infrastructure
- Evaluate the prospects for using the solution in an Alt Linux-based infrastructure
- Implement the system
Implemented our solution
- Pilot Testing
During the pilot, the customer deployed the system, tested software installation processes, verified remote connection mechanisms, and evaluated system performance in a heterogeneous environment.
Particular attention was paid to remote device management capabilities, allowing technical support specialists to connect to user workstations.
During the pilot, several key system updates were released and also tested by the customer. During this phase, the Colibri-UEM team:
— conducted solution demonstrations
— supported pilot testing
— consulted with the customer's specialists
— adapted the product to infrastructure requirements
— developed support for Alt Linux
After completing the pilot, the team acted as technical consultants for the implementation partner.
Interaction occurred through the vendor's partner's technical team: project engineers from the IT integrator's team submitted questions to the general technical chat, and the developers helped quickly resolve any issues that arose.
Adapting the product to customer requirements
Alt Linux was a critical requirement. To ensure system compatibility, the development team:
— assigned a dedicated engineer to test deployment under Alt Linux
— conducted installation testing on an internal rig
— optimized the system installer
— prepared separate installation instructions
— built a dedicated system distribution for Alt OS
This distribution was prepared for the final pilot stage: this allowed the customer to test the system on an infrastructure that met their requirements.
Implementation
Subsequent implementation was carried out by the IT integrator team with consulting support from the developer's specialists.
