After the departure of foreign vendors, in particular Microsoft, the customer faced the problem of the lack of a reliable tool for centralized management of workstations and their monitoring. The previously used SCCM stopped updating, which created risks to the stability of the IT infrastructure and data security.
The task was set to find a Russian analogue that would allow to:
• ensure centralized management of workstations and servers.
• automate the update and monitoring processes.
• ensure remote administration of users.
• support work with both Windows and Russian Linux distributions.Key Challenges
- Complete transition to a Russian solution for IT infrastructure management.
- Ensuring the continuity of IT systems after the departure of foreign vendors.
- Preparing infrastructure for scaling and future migration from Windows.
- Conduct pilot testing and implement Colibri-UEM in the customer’s infrastructure.
The first step of the project was to select a system for managing the organization's IT infrastructure. So the customer decided to choose Colibri-UEM, a Russian alternative to SCCM that provides centralized management of enterprise IT infrastructures and servers.
The project started with pilot testing of Colibri-UEM along with another Russian development. Following three months of testing, Colibri-UEM's clear advantages over its counterparts were recognized: both in functionality and in the speed of feedback from developers and technical support.
The main factors for choosing were:
• Full compliance with import substitution requirements.
• Intuitive interface similar to SCCM, which facilitated the transition.
• Support for heterogeneous environments (Windows, Linux) and the ability to manage them from a single window.
• Efficiency of remote workstation management.
Currently, the customer continues to use Colibri-UEM with regular updates and extended technical support. In the future, it is planned to expand the number of managed devices and integrate with other company solutions.
Colibri-UEM allowed the customer not only to resolve import substitution issues, but also to increase the level of digitalization of IT processes, ensuring their security and manageability.
• Tools for mass migration from Windows to other OS.
• Flexibility of the system and the ability to adapt it to customer requirements.
After successful pilot testing, the customer decided to migrate to Kolibri-ARM. As a result, 5,600 licenses with extended support for 36 months were delivered.
The implementation was carried out by the customer with the support of the ICL Services team. During the integration process, the system was adapted to the company's business processes, and work was carried out to expand the capabilities of individual components.
