ICL Services Implements Centralized Management Of Point-Of-Sale Terminals Across A Russian Hypermarket Chain
ICL Services, a product and services company, has completed a project to deploy the domestically developed Colibri Data Center system for automated deployment, configuration management, and updating of point-of-sale equipment at one of the largest federal hypermarket chains. The implementation of the solution enabled the retailer to completely phase out foreign software and bring control of its critical IT infrastructure to a new level.
The project was commissioned by a retail chain with tens of thousands of employees, more than 200 stores, and more than 3,500 cash registers across Russia. The company's IT infrastructure is geographically distributed across multiple locations, from the central office to sorting centers and retail stores. The ICL Services team was tasked with replacing an outdated Western monitoring platform with a domestic solution while maintaining the full range of its functionality.
During the project, specialists installed and configured the Colibri Data Center server infrastructure at two of the client's sites and connected more than 150 pieces of equipment to the system. The system was integrated with the corporate directory service (LDAP) and the Service Desk system, enabling automated forwarding of incident alerts to on-call teams. A key focus of the project was the configuration of intelligent alert management. The team designed a flexible escalation framework and response workflows to minimize false alerts.
"Thanks to our project, the time required to install the system at a checkout has been reduced from 1.5-2 hours to 30-50 minutes, and updating all checkout systems across hypermarkets now takes 4-6 business days instead of 30-45. Colibri Data Center allows us to monitor equipment status in real time, prevent failures, and generate detailed reports," commented Irina Makarova, Product Manager. "This project once again demonstrated that Russian software can not only fully replace Western alternatives but also provide more flexible scaling options tailored to the needs of large-scale retail businesses."
