ICL Services and Astra Group Help 100,000 Tatarstani Civil Servants Switch to Russian Software
Currently, 82 ministries, departments, executive committees, and local government bodies in the Republic are actively transitioning to the Astra Linux operating system, and all of the top ministries have already implemented it.
The total number of automated workstations currently installed has surpassed 50,000. The transition process is set to conclude by November 30 this year, in line with the Russian Presidential Decree mandating the switch to Russian software by January 1, 2025.
ICL Services' key responsibilities include not only supporting the migration to the Russian Astra Linux OS but also enhancing information security and workstation management. Additionally, the company is tasked with making the new IT infrastructure easier to adapt to for end users and IT staff at government agencies that are migrating to the new systems on their own.
"By 2022, the Republic's Government had already gained significant experience in import substitution and was prepared to be among the first to embark on this path, adhering to its digitalization strategy. We developed this concept of transitioning to domestic software together with the Tatarstan Ministry of Digitalization and were ready to face new challenges. We made this project possible by actively leveraging our experts' skills and relying on the support of Astra Group and Tatarstan Center for Digital Transformation to piece together all components of this puzzle," shares Ruslan Vagizov, ICL Services CEO.
"The project with the Republic of Tatarstan is one of our most extensive and intriguing cases, and I'm confident it can be successfully replicated in other Russian regions in the future. Our products are competitive and reliable, our experts have extensive experience in solving the most unconventional problems, and our approach to customer interaction is highly flexible. We have strong strategic partners. Together, these factors give us numerous advantages and allow us to implement projects of this scale and complexity," notes Andrey Soldatov, Director of the Regional Development Department at Astra Group.
More details about the project's progress will be available during the business session titled "Import Substitution in the Public Sector: Real Experience Based on Real Cases", scheduled for September 9 at 16:00 during the Kazan Digital Week 2024 international forum. The presentation on the subject will be made by Albert Yakovlev, Tatarstan's Deputy Minister for Digital Development in Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communications.
